Our Story

The Olesen family started Spotted Cow Cream & Bean in February 2004 to create a local gathering place in the suburbs, typically only found in big-city settings. We wanted a café that served great ice cream, but didn’t feel like a cold ice cream parlor. We wanted a coffeehouse that invited you to sit and stay a while, and get to know your neighbors. We converted our passion for gourmet ice cream into reality after attending Penn State University’s ice cream program, a nationally renowned program and creamery. We offer our own favorite flavors and concoctions, and always welcome suggestions from our customers. We started roasting our own coffee (small batches, of course) to provide our customers with not only ten unique blends of coffee, but their own possibilities and combinations through our custom roasts.

With three kids and multiple pets, we wanted to provide a place where you can bring the whole family, with entertainment for the kids (play area, board games) as well as parents (soft seating, free wifi), and free water and treats for Fido. You may even get to meet our standard poodle, Grover, who is a frequent mainstay outside the front door (sadly, county health regulations prohibit our furry loved ones in the store). If you prefer straying from your herd (or don’t yet have one), enjoy our large tables and workspaces, soft sofas and warm fireplace.

We are proud to be part of the Mill Creek community and sponsor many local schools, churches, and community events. So come in, sit down, and join the herd!
